The Woman in Carriage 3 – Allison James
Summary
I take my usual seat in carriage 3, expecting this to be an uneventful journey home. I’m wrong. The train lurches to a halt. The minutes tick by and then the handsome man across the table breaks the silence. His broad smile and green eyes draw me to him. I instantly trust him.
He’s smart, charming, and successful. He’s exactly what I need right now. Because my life is a mess… I’ve done some things I’m not proud of and I need to escape my mistakes.
But then shockwaves ripple through the train. A passenger is dead. And the police are questioning everyone.
What has really happened in carriage 3? Can I trust this handsome stranger? Or is he hiding something? A bead of sweat trickles down my back and I wonder if I can keep my own secrets hidden…
Review
Narrated in different POVs and divided into 4 parts,The Woman in Carriage 3 is an easy to follow and light read, just the right thing for anyone that is looking for some thrilling story that perhaps some people may even call cheesy, but who cares!
Any seasoned reader will know all the twists and turns but even I was surprised by a small twist in the last quarter of the book, Alison James sets the tone just right for you to get distracted with Hattie’s naivety and a couple of red herrings.
I had the delight to be provided with the audiobook and, in my humble opinion, Jan Cramer did a wonderful job, especially with the almost perfect pronunciation of the names and words in Spanish. Great choice of narrator!
In a much more personal note, I greatly appreciate the vast and accurate research that was made about Mexico City, the correct geography and personal names. Every time my neighbourhood was mentioned my heart swooned! No doubt I’ll be checking out more of this author’s books soon.

4 / 5!
Especial thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ALC.
