Review
Oof, I don’t know where to start with this one. So many things went through my head while reading Misty. At first, I was vibing with it and enjoying the mystery! But I sadly ended up skimming through the final quarter.
There are A LOT of punctuation mistakes, which I was ignoring at first, but then I encountered this sentence:
“Speaking of meeting, Mr. Foster on the night she went missing really about?…”
That’s straight up quoted from the book, I don’t think there was an editor at all, and one of my main problems was that [SPOILER] a bit further in the beginning, a body is found but the police can’t say tell who it is for some reason? Absolutely 0 identity, Jane Doe 100%. I would understand this if the face was absolutely ripped off or mutilated, but this wasn’t the case at all, that body was in the river for a couple of days! The whole book then onwards is built around “ohoho whose body is it??”. Initially, I was willing to turn a blind side to it but because the whole mystery is built on this, I just couldn’t excuse it anymore.
Another great contributor for my low rating and almost dnf-ing was the pure coincidence/absolute improbability that the twist relied on, reality went out of the window in the last part of the book and by that point, it just felt lazy and I stopped caring.
Great idea but poor execution.

1 / 5.
Especial thanks to Eddy2wice.
