The Resort By Sara Ochs

The Resort – Sara Ochs

Welcome to paradise. We hope you survive your stay…

There are three rules to survive a dive at the famous Koh Sang Resort

1 – Breathe normally if something goes wrong.

Scuba diving instructor Cass leads her students out for their first dive off the beautiful coast of Koh Sang, Thailand’s world-famous party island. It’s supposed to be a life-changing experience, but things quickly spiral out of control…

2 – Always dive with someone you trust.

By the time she gets back to the shore, one of her students is dead, another critically injured, and she knows that her idyllic life is about to be smashed to pieces on the rocks.

3 – Don’t panic if your oxygen is running out.

Someone has discovered Cass’s secret, and on an island as remote as this, accidents happen. Plenty of backpackers choose to stay here forever—but some never make it home alive…

Another instance of the book not being what the synopsis promises. The synopsis makes the book so much better than it actually was.

We follow the points of view of Cass, a scuba diving instructor, and Brooke, a social media influencer on vacation in Thailand.

It honestly started off very dry.

Literally, after like 3 chapters, I started to not vibe with Brooke anymore, but my god, as we neared the final chapters, I couldn’t even stand reading her POV. She labelled anyone she met as the killer and acted very impulsively.

I really feel for Brooke, but I still didn’t like her in the end, and her anger and want of revenge were completely misdirected towards Cass.

I felt like Brooke’s and Cass’s stories took away a lot from the “main” plot of who killed Lucy.

Final thoughts: started off not being engaging and having not very compelling characters. I recommend skipping

2 / 5.

Especial thanks to NetGalley, RB Media and Recorded Books for the audio ARC!
